2025: More of the Same or a Reboot?

December 29, 2024 / Mark Hudgins, Membership Pastor

What will 2025 look like if you keep doing  what you did this year?

12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

(Psalm 90:12, 17, ESV)

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

(Ephesians 5:15-17, ESV)

As I approach 2025 …

1. Choose my steps .

My life is made up of the I make.

2. Make the  use of every day.

making the most of your time… (NAS)
making the most of every opportunity… (NIV)
so make every minute count… (CEV)

  • I can  my time in what’s evil.

… making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. (v.16)

  • I can my time on what is unimportant.

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise… Therefore do not be foolish… (v.15, v.17a)

  • I can my time on what is wise and pleasing to the Lord.

Look carefully then how you walk, … as wise… understand what the will of the Lord is. (v.15, v.17a)

Walking As Jesus Walked

51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

(Luke 2:51-52, ESV)

  • Progress won’t just happen.
  • I will not drift toward the kind of growth that I want.
  • What decisive, purposeful choices will I make this week and in the weeks and months to come?

in wisdom                                 Intellectual/School/Work Life

and in stature                         Physical Life

and in favor with God        Spiritual Life

and (in favor with) man    Relational Life
