Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
(Psalm 1:1-3, ESV)

a person who daily in God’s word.

2. Be – a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

  • Repent, believe, and be baptized
  • Come to worship – be a weekly worshiper
  • Grow in a group – be connected to other believers; member
  • Serve in the body – be a servant to others in Jesus’ name
  • Go with the gospel – be a witness for Jesus and the gospel

Jesus said to him, . . . “You follow me!” (John 21:22, ESV)

3. Be in your choices.

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, (Ephesians 5:15-18, ESV)

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. (Proverbs 13:20, ESV)

1) Get an education.
2) Get a full-time job. 
3) Get married/stay married. 
4) Have children.
If you do these four things in this order, your life will be blessed and God will be glorified.

4. Be both ordinary and in your obedience to Christ.

Willing to stay – “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” (Mark 5:19, ESV); “remain at Ephesus” (1 Timothy 1:3, ESV)

Willing to go – By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, (Hebrews 11:8-9a, ESV)

Fear——–> Faithful Obedience<——–Foolishness

5. Be from the world.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2, NLT)

22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24, ESV)

6. Be a person of both and .

And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. (Psalm 78:72, NIV84)

  • Tell the truth.
  • Keep your word.
  • Sharpen your skills.
  • Be a lifelong learner.
  • Do more than the minimum.
  • Deliver more than you promise.
  • Finish the job – on time and under budget.
  • Pursue excellence – it honors God and inspires people.
  • Believe and live as if the best is yet to come.

7. Be more concerned for God’s than anything else!

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God.
(1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV)

“. . . it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.” (Philippians 1:20, ESV)
