A SONG OF ASCENTS

1 When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
          and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us;
          we are glad.
4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD,
          like streams in the Negeb!
5 Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6 He who goes out weeping,
          bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
          bringing his sheaves with him.

(Psalm 126, ESV)

1 When the LORD brought back his exiles to Jerusalem,
          it was like a dream!
2 We were filled with laughter,
          and we sang for joy.
And the other nations said,
“What amazing things the LORD has done for them.”
3 Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us!
           What joy!
4 Restore our fortunes, LORD,
          as streams renew the desert.
5 Those who plant in tears
will harvest with shouts of joy.
6 They weep as they go to plant their seed,
But they sing as they return with the harvest.

(Psalm 126, NLT)

     How are you the gospel?

     How are you the gospel?

3.  Pray toward a of restoration.

Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams of the Negeb!

Remembrance –> Hope –> Confident Prayers

4-6 And now, God, do it again –
Bring rains to our drought-stricken lives
So those who planted their crops in despair
will shout hurrahs at the harvest,
So those who went off with heavy hearts
will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.

(Psalm 126:4-6, MSG)

4.  Refuse the temptation to .

5 Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! 6 He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

But while closing of public places is in vogue, surely we can have worship in our own homes. There we can read God’s Word, pray, sing praises and give thanks. If all the Christian people would ask God for the passing of this scourge, they would surely bring God’s blessing upon the land, for the scourge would pass. In that way we would surely be blessing the earth.
